Shapes and Measurement

1. a) A shape with $3$ sides and $3$ corners is a triangle.

b) A shape with $4$ equal sides and $4$ corners is a square.

c) A shape that is perfectly round with no corners is a circle.

2. a) The ball is above (on top of) the table.

b) The cat is below (under) the table.

c) The book is beside (next to) the table.

3. A square has $4$ sides that are all the same length. A rectangle also has $4$ sides, but only the opposite sides are the same length — two sides are longer and two sides are shorter.

A rectangle could look like a door or a book: taller than it is wide, or wider than it is tall.

4. a) A triangle has $3$ corners.

b) A rectangle has $4$ corners.

c) A circle has $0$ corners — it is round with no straight sides.
